Vox Bar
A playful find in the heart of Saint-Roch! This game bar offers a selection of pinball and arcade machines in a retro setting, and also hosts a drag bingo one Sunday a month. You'll find nachos, chicken wings, Quebec jerky and pepperettes, along with beers from local microbreweries and ciders. A one-of-a-kind atmosphere, somewhere between a bar, an arcade and a neighbourhood restaurant.
The place came out of an idea from two longtime friends, brought together by their love of retro arcade cabinets and well-made cider. Since then the house has fully leaned into that second side: today it presents itself as a cider specialist, with a sharply chosen selection that's worth the trip even for someone who won't touch a controller all night.
It's also bigger than it looks when you walk in: the Vox can hold up to 250 people, which makes it a good address for a group party. Along with the pinball and arcade machines, there's a pool table and a foosball table. Good to know: most of the machines are set to free play, and on Mondays the pool table and the pinball machines are free. Open every day from 4 p.m. to 3 a.m.

A very pleasant experience for drinks; we'll certainly be back for a proper supper.

Q de Sac (Petit Champlain)
A neighbourhood restaurant. Tucked into the heart of the Quartier Petit Champlain, the Q de Sac greets us with a menu of Quebec flavours in a warm, shack-like decor. French onion soup cooked in the wood-fired pizza oven, duck wings in soy-maple sauce, foie gras poutine, wood-fired pizzas and craft beers — a genuine tribute to Quebec cooking. With its terrace in the umbrella alley, it is the perfect place for a tasty break in Vieux-Québec.

Birra Basta
This Italian tavern, the latest arrival from the Top Resto group, occupies the former premises of La Champagnerie on rue Saint-Joseph. Wood-fired pizzas, a burrata and mozzarella laboratory, a fine selection of cocktails and spritzes, all in a festive, relaxed atmosphere within an eclectic New York-style decor. A fine address for evenings out with friends.

Le Don Vegane
The restaurant serves entirely plant-based dishes with bold flavours drawing on Mediterranean, South American and Asian inspiration. Among the dishes mentioned are bibimbap, dumplings, risotto, pad thai, fauxmon, burgers, and brunch options such as scrambled tofu and buckwheat crepes. A hip and welcoming restaurant! A must for brunch… Very surprising.

Plus 86 Bistro - Breakfast & Izakaya
⚠️ Permanently closed. The restaurant announced its closing in February 2026, in a farewell message posted on its social media. We are keeping this article as a memento of our visit in April 2025.
A tasty and original find in the Montcalm neighbourhood! In the former premises of Café Sirocco, on boulevard René-Lévesque Ouest, they served sandwiches, wraps, waffles, traditional Quebec plates, cassolettes, savoury and sweet crêpes, eggs Benedict and even a kind of Chinese churro (long fried doughnuts called you tiao). The concept skilfully married the Quebec breakfast with Asian flavours — a one-of-a-kind experience in Quebec City.

Frites Alors
⚠️ This location is closed. The Frite Alors! at 122 rue Crémazie Ouest served its last fries on July 19, 2026. It was the banner's first franchise to open in Quebec City, back in 2010. Its owner, Benoît Houde, chose to leave the restaurant business after 30 years in the trade, and the space has found successors. The banner is still present in the region, though: the Sainte-Anne boulevard location, in L'Ange-Gardien, is still operating, as are several addresses in Montreal. We're keeping this article as a memento of our April 2025 visit.
A must for poutine lovers! This Belgian-inspired chain serves deep-fried potatoes, burgers, grilled cheese, fish & chips, hot dogs and other North American indulgences. Several takes on poutine, perfectly crisp fries and an affordable menu — in short, comfort food done right.

Va Bene Bar Antipasto

The fifth establishment of the Maestro Group (behind L'Atelier, L'Ophelia and others), it offers a singular antipasto bar concept built around sharing. In a spare, modern decor, you can watch the chefs at work in the open kitchen. In summer, a 16-seat terrace offers an unobstructed view of the Château Frontenac and the St. Lawrence River. In short, it is an intimate and warm address, ideal for a meal in good company in one of the finest districts of the provincial capital. Reservations are strongly recommended.
