Domaine Taschereau – Parc Nature
In Sainte-Marie, the Domaine Taschereau – Parc Nature is a genuine ecological haven where history meets biodiversity. Laid out on the former seigneurial estate of the Taschereau family, this singular park reveals an impressive mosaic of wetland, terrestrial and aquatic environments, from marshes to wet meadows by way of thickets and the Chaudière River.
With its 7 km of trails open in every season, visitors can discover more than 150 species of birds, admire the local flora and stop at the 25 interpretive panels that tell both the ecology of the site and the great historic floods of the Chaudière.
Among the highlights are the Placide-Poulin elevated walkway, built at the height of the worst floods, and the Éco-refuge Desjardins, which offers a spectacular 360° view over the marsh. The park is also known as the most flood-prone park in Quebec, a surprising trait that adds to its unique character.
Free and open all year, the Domaine Taschereau is a perfect place to walk, watch nature, picnic and recharge right in the middle of town.
