Terms of use

Purpose

These terms govern the use of the Cœur Voyage (coeur-voyage.com) website and, in particular, the creation and use of a member account. By creating an account, you declare that you have read and accept them.

They supplement the legal notice and the privacy policy, which describes the personal information processed and your rights in that regard.

Reading the site requires no account: all articles are freely accessible. The account serves only the personal and participatory features described below.

The member account

What the account allows

• saving articles as favourites (a private list);
• choosing a pseudonym, the name under which your public contributions appear;
• taking part in the site's contribution spaces, when they are open;
• viewing, correcting and deleting your information from your account.

Creation

Creating an account requires a valid email address, a pseudonym and a password of at least 12 characters. We do not ask for your legal name: the pseudonym is enough for everything the site does.

The email address must be confirmed by clicking the link sent at sign-up. Until it is, the account can neither open a session nor publish anything.

You must be 14 or older to create an account. Below that age, the authorization of a parent or guardian is required and must be reported to us at the address given below.

One account, one person

The account is personal. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for what is published from your account. Tell us without delay if you suspect it has been used without your knowledge: we can cut off all of its sessions immediately.

Creating several accounts as the same person in order to circumvent a moderation decision or a suspension is not permitted.

Participation rules

Cœur Voyage is a travel journal kept by two people. Contribution spaces are opened progressively; the rules below apply as soon as a space is open, to everything you publish there.

What is expected of a contribution:

• that it be your own, or that you have the right to publish it;
• that it remain courteous, even in disagreement — criticism of a place, a dish or an article is welcome, attacking a person is not;
• that it rest on your actual experience, if it concerns a business.

What has no place on the site:

• hateful, discriminatory, threatening, harassing or defamatory remarks;
• sexual or violent content, or content plainly unsuitable for a family readership;
• a third party's personal information (name, address, telephone number, identifiable photograph) published without their consent;
• advertising, solicitation, personal affiliate links, disguised search-engine optimization and spam;
• false testimonials, reviews written in exchange for consideration, and impersonation;
• any content that is unlawful under the applicable law, and any attempt to harm the operation or the security of the site.

Moderation before publication

Members' contributions are moderated before being published. A submitted contribution remains invisible to the public until a member of the editorial team approves it. You can follow the status of your own contributions from your account: a pending contribution has not disappeared.

This choice is deliberate. A journal kept by two people cannot watch an open thread continuously; a publication delay is better than a space left unsupervised.

In practice, contributions are reviewed within a few days. Moderation is carried out by Olivier Lange and Marilou Harvey.

A contribution is refused when it breaks one of the participation rules above. The most common grounds for refusal:

• advertising, commercial link or spam;
• abusive, hateful or defamatory remarks;
• a third party's personal information published without their consent;
• content unrelated to the article being commented on;
• content copied from a third-party source without right;
• a review that is plainly complimentary by arrangement or written for consideration.

Moderation is an editorial act: we may refuse a contribution without altering it, and we do not rewrite what you have written. If you believe a refusal is a mistake, write to us — a moderation decision can be reconsidered.

Ownership of what you publish

You remain the owner of your contributions. We claim no copyright in them.

By publishing on the site, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence, for the duration of publication, to display your contribution on the pages of the site and in its technical feeds (syndication feeds, pages intended for search engines). This licence serves to publish your text and nothing else: we do not sell members' contributions and we do not assign them to any third party.

You warrant that you hold the rights to what you publish. A contribution that reproduced another person's text or photograph without right will be removed.

The site's own content — articles, photographs, trade-marks and graphic elements — remains protected under the conditions described in the legal notice.

Suspension and termination

You can leave whenever you want

The “Delete my account” button is in your account. Deletion is immediate and requires no step on our side.

Your already published public contributions are kept, but anonymized: they no longer bear any link to you and are shown under the mention “Deleted member”. A public discussion does not belong to its last participant alone, and a thread full of holes becomes unintelligible to everyone else. What is erased and what survives is set out in detail in the privacy policy. If you also want a specific contribution removed, ask us: we will do it.

What we may do

We may suspend or close an account that repeatedly or seriously breaks the participation rules, that is used for spam or impersonation, or whose use compromises the security of the site. Except in cases of obvious manipulation or unlawful content, a suspension is preceded by a warning.

A suspension immediately cuts off access to the account and to its open sessions. You may contest it at the address given below.

We may also close the members' area, in whole or in part. In that case, you will be told in advance and will be able to retrieve your data from your account before the closure.

Service availability and liability

The site is provided as is, with no guarantee of continuous availability: it may be interrupted for maintenance, updates or a technical incident.

The articles recount personal experiences on a given date. Opening hours, prices, access conditions and the quality of a business change: always check the information at the source before travelling. Members' contributions bind only their authors.

Links to third-party sites are provided for information only; we do not control their content. Where a link is commercial, it is identified as such next to the link.

Amendment of these terms

These terms may change. Each version carries an identifier (cgu-2026-09 for the present one), and it is that identifier which is recorded together with your acceptance: we can therefore say precisely which text you accepted, and when.

Any substantial change will be announced on the site and, where appropriate, your acceptance will be requested again. The applicable version is the one published on the date of your visit.

Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws applicable in the province of Quebec and by the laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute falls under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Quebec.

If a clause were held to be invalid, the others would remain in force.
