Saint-Georges de Beauce

Thanks to Beauce Art, Saint-Georges has turned itself into a genuine open-air museum of public art. More than 100 sculptures created by artists from around the world are spread through the city along more than 5 km of routes. Three circuits — L'Immersif, Le Cosmopolite and Le Longiligne — let you discover the works as you follow the footbridges, the parks and the banks of the Chaudière River. This cultural initiative makes the city a living space where art, nature and the daily life of its citizens meet in harmony. A one-of-a-kind experience, free and open all year round.

Fromagerie Pépites d'Or

A genuine point of pride in the Beauce, the Fromagerie Pépites d'Or turns out fresh cheeses every day, including its famous cheese curds in several flavours such as BBQ or maple. The business owes its name to an actual gold nugget found in 1914 on the site where the cheese dairy stands today — a nod to its unusual history. On site you'll find a shop with rustic charm, local products, and the famous poutine made with the day's cheese.

Parc des Sept-Chutes

A stone's throw from downtown, the Parc des Sept-Chutes is a must for anyone who wants to get away into nature. The site holds a 70-hectare urban forest, nearly 9 km of trails and impressive viewpoints over the falls of the Pozer River. There's also a suspended footbridge 25 metres up, playgrounds, a public pool, a bike path and even more than 900 steps to climb for anyone who likes a challenge. It's the perfect place to walk, picnic, watch for wildlife or simply enjoy a quiet moment.

Île Pozer

Right in the middle of Saint-Georges, Île Pozer is a natural island reached by two footbridges. Its walking path runs along a 2.6 km urban lake, created by an inflatable dam that is unique in Quebec. The island stands out for its flower plantings, its Musée des Lilas (bringing together nearly 750 cultivars), its playgrounds, its dock for water activities and its monumental sculptures from Beauce Art. A peaceful, photogenic place to walk, it offers an open-air experience for the senses and for the mind.

Frequently asked questions

What is Beauce Art?
An initiative that has turned Saint-Georges into a genuine open-air museum of public art. More than 100 sculptures created by artists from around the world are spread through the city along more than 5 km of routes. It's free and open all year round, which makes it a fine activity even in winter.
What are the sculpture circuits in Saint-Georges?
Three circuits let you discover the works: L'Immersif, Le Cosmopolite and Le Longiligne. They wind along the footbridges, the parks and the banks of the Chaudière River. It's a fine example of a living space where art, nature and the daily life of citizens meet.
Where does the name Fromagerie Pépites d'Or come from?
From an actual gold nugget found in 1914 on the site where the cheese dairy stands today. A nod to the history of the Beauce, which had its own gold rush. The house is known for its fresh same-day cheese curds, in several flavours such as BBQ or maple, and for its poutine made with the day's cheese.
What will you find at the Parc des Sept-Chutes?
A 70-hectare urban forest a stone's throw from downtown, with nearly 9 km of trails and impressive viewpoints over the falls of the Pozer River. The site also has a suspended footbridge 25 metres up, playgrounds, a public pool, a bike path and more than 900 steps for anyone who likes a challenge.
What is Île Pozer?
A natural island right in the middle of Saint-Georges, reached by two footbridges. Its walking path runs along a 2.6 km urban lake, created by an inflatable dam that is unique in Quebec. You'll find flower plantings, a dock for water activities and several monumental sculptures from Beauce Art.
What is the Musée des Lilas?
A flower collection on Île Pozer that brings together nearly 750 lilac cultivars. It's a unique attraction that is obviously at its best in spring, when they bloom. In winter, you come to the island instead for the sculptures and the walk along the urban lake.
Are these attractions open in winter?
Yes, and that's what makes the circuit interesting off season. The Beauce Art sculptures are free and accessible year-round, the trails of the Parc des Sept-Chutes and Île Pozer can be walked in winter, and the cheese dairy is open. Some summer facilities, such as the pool and the boat dock, are of course closed.
